Put a Ring On It!

Went out shopping for a bit during lunch! My cousin had this new boyfriend (probably the twentieth or so, and counting...!) who went away on a business trip to Macau investigating diamonds (yep, really) at a mere age of 20. So she was ranting all her troubles (friends and boys) to yours truly. It's tough paying attention when you never had a boyfriend once in your life, or had that many friends. Still, I tried! We went round looking at shops in a mall nobody really went. She picked out a pair of couple rings and I picked one out for myself! It turned out to be sooo loose I had to wear it on my thumb and it still keeps trying to fall off. Here's it:

While coming across this fave joke of the day today on Twitter, I came across this really cool, but meaningful picture on its background!

I'd just watched a re-run of the latest American Idol results show! It's down to a rather disappointing 16 contestants, some who ain't even "worthy" to continue in there! I'm not gonna name names, since I might just gets warnings of 'meetings' in court, or haters spamming my inbox the next day. Still, I'm pretty bummed that John Park was the first to leave in this one! Shania Twain mightn't have been too wrong about him *swoon* So glad Aaron Kelly and Katie Stevens got through too. It was kinda sad to see Haeley Vaughn (spelling?!) crying as she sung 'The Climb' by Miley for the final time too. Hopefully, the show gets better from here on out.

My Much-Needed Exercise

 I finally got the exercise I so LACKED in the past I don't know... 9 months? If you call hiking an exercise that is! Went to my friend, Rebecca's house today! I got some pretty rad souvenirs she got overseas early February this year! And some stuff she didn't exactly want... like a little notebook and a graphic paper bag! Ha, thanks! Met her grandparents for the first time too. Her grandfather seemed rather mysterious and aloof to me, but that's probably 'cos I haven't got grandfathers now. Had a pasta meal too. ;D

Afterwards, we played word boardgames - 'UPWORDS'. Never tried it before. It's similar to 'SCRABBLE', just that you get to stack up letters to a maximum of five! Pretty fun. We decided to head up to this pet store way at the back of all the semi-detached houses and bungalows. Of course, it was a looong hike there. We stopped at about 2 playgrounds along the way. And guess what? I scratched my back while going down a successful triangle-rope climb and the pet shop turned out to be CLOSED, for LUNCH! Just our luck! We did see this ENORMOUS Siberian Husky behind the closed doors of the store! It looked just so MISERABLE in there! Poor guy. Then, we continued hiking to the nearest shopping centre for a little breather. Our legs just went all JELL-O walking that long!

Anyway, thought I'd just share this rather cool picture of rainbow lips! The teeth scares me.

Bad Hamster and Mother Days

I learnt a new Spanish phrase today, from @LearnSpanishSCR on Twitter! Forgive me, I'm still in a half-assed mood of learning it! French as well.

At least, I think that's what it means! :x I'm real elated today! My Twitter page finally reached the 70++ count of followers, and I previously thought it could never get beyond 50... However, I doubt it would keep up though, knowing my luck. When I went to work just several hours ago with my mother, and we were in a convenience store, I pulled up a copy of Popstar! magazine and asked if I could buy it. So the conversation went like this:
Mother: You've got your own money, I've given you the $15 the other day.
Me: *Jaw drops literally* No...! You haven't given it to me. You don't remember? *Eye roll here*
Mother: I KNOW I gave you the $15.
Me: You DIDN'T.

It goes on. Few seconds later...

Me: Never mind.
Mother: So do you still want to buy the magazine?
Me: No! *loud enough for the cashier to look over at us (MYOB lady!)*
Mother: I really gave it to you. YOU don't remember!
Me: *storms out of the store*

In the end, she handed me the 15 bucks anyway. I wasn't being mean, and I'm not gonna try to defend myself here. But I TRUTHFULLY didn't get that money from her! I don't forget money that easy ;)

And goddamn it. Before I went out to work, I fed my two hamsters as usual. Sunflower seeds, nuts and vitamin C. I picked Pudding up DELICATELY but she went ahead and bit me HARD anyway on my palm. I tried shaking her off and she bit my ring finger then. Thank goodness Mochi doesn't bite anymore. She used to. Not lovin' Pudding as much as Mochi now! There's still a friggin' gash on my finger too. How do you train hamsters to be obedient?

Anyway, speakin' of hamsters, I got some pretty awesome, talented ones here! Enjoy the cute-ness these little critters just ooze full of!

Quickie Post!

This is gonna have to be a quick one! Since I've to go to work EARLY in just a few hours with my mother, as her assistant. But I'll get a whole day's pay, so I'm willing to sacrifice what LITTLE free time I have! Anyway, just some personal rant-ish stuff, some pictures, a quote, and I'm DONE here! It's all drab black in this post, apologies!

Whoa. My own MOTHER just asked me to help her create a Facebook account! And I don't even have one! Well, not currently anyway. I created one once. I deleted it, since it was a helluva bore. I was bored online just not long ago as well. I created the account again. Still the same ol'... Deleted once more. Pathetic much? Anyway, my mother just wanted to see the pictures her colleagues posted online of some function or summat. So I s'pose that's all right. But no matter how you look at it, it's still WEIRD. Some of my previous teachers even have Facebook accounts!

Wow, this post is turning out pretty long after all. I've no friggin' idea if I should make a navigation/menu bar for my novel-blog, Stalking Hams! It's easier to view that way. But I'll probably just mess that up. That, and having to go through different tutorials they have on the web. More work! *Yawn*

On to the GRIM stuff. I'd just had this reunion dinner with relatives on my father's side! There were actually FOUR smokers in our fam, I didn't know it was hell that many. (Crappers, I'm saying 'Hell' lots now. Probably 'cos I'm currently hooked on 'The Catcher in the Rye'!) And a particular aunt of mine went all Scrooge-y and sullen on me when I clearly said 'Thanks' like she couldn't hell listen to a word I said. Unfair much?

And here are some of the rather gross and poor remains of my first Tiramisu I shared with my friend Becky at a restaurant in a new shopping mall in the heart of the city! We had taken a picture of the before-Tiramisu on the camera on her phone. So I'll just post these after-Tiramisu shots first! After we were done with it, we used pepper and salt shakers to decorate the leftover Tiramisu! It was goddamn awful. The waitresses there seemed pretty reluctant to clear up our stuff after, and a whole group of them LAUGHED at us while we were in this happy-deco mood. Still, no matter! Here they are:

Valentine's Day Spesh: Pop Art, Love Pillows and More

POP ART
The pictures below of a baby and some hamsters in a kitchen reminds me of the Pop Art pictures of Marilyn Monroe by Andy Warhol (I only know this 'cos I took Art Class for a while before I entirely dropped the subject). By golly, heard a giant crash only just in the kitchen. Turns out my Gran broke 2 plates. Picking up loose, small ceramic pieces is tedious work!

You've Probably Never Heard Of This!

Recently, I came across an article in Reader's Digest, and they'd announced the birth of a new WORD!
This is it: LOCAVORE.
 It is the term for someone who eats only locally grown food, and stays away from anything that has travelled over long distances. (Seriously, why would anyone do that?)
The word comes from the Latin locus, which means 'place', and vorare, meaning 'to devour'.
It was first used in San Francisco in 2005, the land of healthy, environmentally friendly-eating. (Right, now it makes sense...)

I read extracts of this book, 'The Wonder of Whiffling' by Adam Jacot de Boinod, where he unravels the meaning of English words you've probably never heard of. Some are derived from the previous centuries, or from Latin. Here are a few good, and bizarre ones I found:

1. crambazzled : prematurely aged by drinking -No Comment
2. fornale (four-narl) : spend unearned money -15th-century English
3. accidie (acid-ee) : apathy -Latin
4. quidnunc : someone desperate to know what's going on -Latin
5. dudgeon : resentful anger -Old English
6. deipnosophist (dayp-noh-soffist) : dining companion -Greek 
7. cachinnate (kak-in-ate) : laugh loudly -Latin
8. smidsy : a motorbike accident -20th-century acronym 'Sorry, Mate, I Didn't See You'
9. brendice (bren-diss) : a cup used to drink to another's health -17th-century English
10. ostrobogulous : bizzare - Derivation unknown
