The Hunger Games Movie Update #1

While my mouth is getting a li'l R&R from the surgery on Monday and staying in bed for days afterwards, I caught up on reading The Hunger Games! It's srsly the best suspense and adventure novel I've read thus far! As of now, I've just completed the second book in the trilogy! I'll start on the final novel after I'm done with this blog post! Yipeekayay! And the best part is, there's a movie adaptation of it to be released in March 23, 2012! Can't wait (however unpleased I am with the cast)! I'll also post more updates in relation to the movie as soon as I get 'em, so check back for more!

I initially rooted for Malese Jow (Vampire Diaries) as Katniss EVerdeen. Too bad she didn't even get to audition! Apparently it was due to her age. She just turned 20, and the auditioners had to be between 15-20. I don't see what the problem is here. What a pity. She'd have made a fine Katniss! Conversely, read here for other celebs who either were considered or brought up by fans for the part!

 JENNIFER LAWRENCE (Winter's Bone)! I wasn't too delighted with this choice at first, but since the author of the books herself gave her stamp of approval, I guess she must have played Katniss spectacularly.

Peeta Melark and Gale have been cast too! Not too fond of their choice for Gale. I mean srsly, Miley's ex from Last Song? 

 Peeta Melark will be played by Josh Hutcherson. He's all right I s'pose.

...and Gale will be portrayed by Liam Hemsworth. Ugh (Of course, this is just me being biased - I have not watched The Last Song and I wouldn't know about his acting chops).

Anyway, all three actors look physically different from their characters they'll be playing in the book, so some talented fans have begun churning out photoshopped photos and fan art! Check 'em out below!

Since Katniss has dark hair, Jennifer would have to go through a major color change from her blond locks. The above cover looks legit enough!

Peeta has blond hair, Josh has dark hair. Do the math.

And switcheroo! Liam has blond hair (you can't really see it here), but has to go dark for the film!

Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss (she actually suits the part now that I'm seeing this!) and Hunter Parrish (?) as Peeta. Again, this is just fan art! I love this one too though!

Pronounce This

Gonna tide you over with just that one pretty picture of vintage classic books! I just love the spines. Too pretty. Anyway, check this poem out. Apparently, it is a revise of G. Nolst Trenit's classic English poem named 'The Chaos' from 1992 (excusez-moi, I meant 1922), which holds about 800 of the worst irregularities in English spelling and pronunciation! 

Assuming you can pronounce every single word CORRECTLY, you will be speaking English better than 90% of Native English speakers in the world! So go ahead,give it a try! 

Personally, I wasn't sure about several words, such as Terpsichore (pronounced turp-see-kur-ry!), Melpomene (pronounced mehl-por-mer-ni!) and other stuff like that, so that slowed down my pace a li'l. I probably took close to 3 and a half minutes finishing the entire poem (not before my brother so rudely entered the room and I had to stop). Leave a comment on how YOU did for this!

Candlelight Service

Had a pretty long day today, so I'm absolutely exhausted and I'll make this post a fast one! Had music lesson at 11.45AM today for a change, since my teacher is going overseas the next day. I was thus scrambling to practice my pieces the night before. Not cool. I usually leave them practicing at the last minute though, so it's not like it's anything new! Got a new piece to practice for the Christmas break though. 

I was a li'l early when I got done with my lesson, so I headed to the library close by and went there to chill! I think it's gonna be my next fave place, after my own room and the shopping malls of course. I got to the teens' section and immediately found a couple of books I could borrow! All from the same author, Lisi Harrison! Love her 'The Clique' series! Then I found this 'Who Moved my Cheese? for TEENS!' book in the Psychology section and sat at a lone sofa a level down and began reading and tweeting via my iPad! There's working wifi! Hurrah! It kinda dropped sometimes though, that's what sucks.

Met Elaine at the cafe in the library later on! I had the best onion rings (aside from the ones at Burger King). I got an early Christmas present! Hurrah! The wrapper was pretty sweet too.

We headed to the Expo after that on the train! I hate standing all the way for nearly an hour in crowded trains, but even so, I rarely sit even when there are spare seats. Leave 'em to the preggers and oldies. I hope that doesn't leave me with mass spider veins in my legs in the future! 

The candlelight service was pretty fun. Haven't attended church or done any praise and worship since school ended last year, so I kinda forgot how fun it really is. Elaine's cell group people were pretty friendly. I've never exactly been in one before though. Pathetic, I know. Anyway, we did the usual, save for lighting our own separate candles, of course - sang worship songs, listened to several pastors share, sang again (some Christmas carols included, yay!). It ended pretty quick, about a little over two hours. The candlelight part was waaay cool. They turned off all the lights in the expo hall and we started passing the flame with our candlesticks. Hot wax! Elaine accompanied me to the bookfair still going on in another Expo hall afterwards! Found such good deals. Too bad I didn't bring enough moolah to get all I wanted >.<

Day Six - Favorite Book

Gosh this is progressing too slowly for my taste - I might just drop this whole drawing challenge thingy. Anyways, day 6 for the 30-day drawing challenge! My favorite book (or book series, more like) of all time is definitely Harry Potter! I'm so excited to watch Part I of the Deathly Hallows! Wish I could have been at the premiere that night. Anyways, this is my feeble attempt trying to duplicate a manga version of Harry Potter and his two friends (Ron and Hermione of course!)... (My drawing of Harry particularly made him look like a total crackpot.) And it beats me why Harry turned out the smallest too. haha.

 I noticed I made Harry Potter look like the sullen one among the pretty happy Ron and Hermione.

We had to do a scavenger hunt of sorts for Psychology today. I absolutely hate doing stuff like that, especially when you've got to go up to people (particularly this part - or anything activities which require confronting strangers to get your job done) to ask them for their timetables or to take a photo of their tees. My group came in last though - since we left the room last. We had to finish an IQ test or something like that before we embarked on our hunt. There were questions like 'what's the missing number' or 'which of the following is not a boy's name'. Lol.

The Sucker Punch movie poster released! I never knew it would turn out like this. Imagined this to be another chick flick. Vanessa Hudgens looks waaaay different - but so much edgier! Lovin' it. Turns out, Jamie Chung (DCOM's PPP) and Emily Browning (my fave! She acted in A Series of Unfortunate Events in 2004 alongside Johnny Depp!)

Anyways, my cuz agreed to go shopping with me today. Guess what - she backed out at the last minute. Just as I had already left my house and gotten on a bus there and everything. Big surprise. This wasn't the first time already. She's done it to me like five times... and counting. I'm so not going with her on this one ever again. Mark my words. I've had ENOUGH. To make things worse, I was gonna change buses and another idiotic maniac of a driver drove past the stop like he hadn't seen me flag it down. FFFFFUUUUUUU. All right, I know I had been Tumblring too much, so I'm still learning its ways! ;D

All right I'm too flamed to talk about all this now. So anyways, I went on to shop ALONE. I got some pretty good loot in 3 hours though! So here's what I got today...

Bought one more of THE CLIQUE summer collection! I've got Massie, Claire (and now Kristen!) so far. Two more to go (Dylan and Alicia)! This is my newest guilty pleasure (aside from Barbie movies!). Got 2 sets of rings too! The rounded, large silver one is actually a locket! Too cool, and I paid just 12 bucks for it! The set of three rings were too cheap, at just 5 bucks. Still, I love them! They read HOPE, FAITH and LOVE on each separate ring!

Went to an Arts and Craft's store. Got styrofoam board worth 3 bucks, a pink felt cloth (loooove it!) and white pom poms and modelling clay! The felt and pom poms - I plan to make mini hamster party hats outta them! More deets in later posts.
