App Review: Nechronos

I'm gonna be labelling all my Apple app reviews properly from this day on, for neater purposes. Anyway, if you happen to own any of the 3 main Apple devices (iPhone, iPod Touch or an iPad, just in case you are that clueless on the Apple scene), saddle up and check out this cool entertainment app! It's called Nechronos: How will I die? (don't ask me why, but it does sound suitable should Grim Reaper ever have its own proper name!) and it basically scans your hand (that's for the iPad) or thumb (for the smaller devices like the iPhone) and you get a prediction of how you would die, kick the bucket, cross to the afterlife or the other plane of existence, or whatever you wanna call it... All in less than 5 seconds after the app reads your palm or thumb!

I'd say it's a pretty straightforward app. And you can scan your palm or thumb as many times as you want to get assorted predictions of how you would die! That's what I did, anyway!

Of course, it's not a true-to-life calculation, so in any case, you shouldn't be believing any of the predictions the app comes up with for you! If you've been feeling the lack of fun apps to download recently, then hit up Nechronos! It's free  up till April Fools' Day, so be quick! Click here to download!
My rating for Nechronos?
Fun Factor: ★★★★✩
Usability: ★✩✩✩✩
Price: ★★★★★ (Since it's free... for now!)
Overall Rating: ★★★✩✩

My first calculation the app raked up for me! I kinda think this might be true... But I'm cool dying this way, really.
More possibilities I tried afterwards... Some of these are too hilarious to be true! The final two pictures, for example.

--- End of App Review ---
Read on only if you're srsly bored... It's more crap as usual from here on!

I left my house a li'l earlier than my brother to meet up with my mother so we could go to the immigration authority or whatever it's called to get our passports sorted out. My brother to collect his passport, and I, to change my photo. The officers who were checking my passports for the past year now have been asking me to change my photo since I looked totally different now (I beg to differ - I think I look exactly the same), so my mother decide to take action now. Plus, the previous one had already written in my passport to switch photos, so there's no choice now!

Once we all met up at City Hall, my mother brought us to lunch at New York (X2)! Pretty cool as swagger sofas in there. Here's what I ordered...
Slushie which tasted like mango smoothie. Yuck. It costs 7.90 too. Waste of $$$!!!
Roasted mushroom cappuccino. My mother asked the waiter to remove the coffee powder so it was just the soup and the whipped cream. Yummers.

Freedom Cheese Fries! Stupid name there, I know. Yummilicious nacho cheese there though.
And hot plate pasta with black pepper seafood! There was actually egg at the bottom. Yuck. Luckily they were the solid kind. I hate eggs! I ate the pasta from the top and tried my best to avoid all the egg. The black pepper made it really hot too, I had to keep reaching for the water with the lemon slice in it. Still pretty good though.

Anyway, we ate pretty quick and took two train stations to the place. My brother got a queue number there and my mother found out they didn't allow a change of photo for passports anymore. Damn. So I'd have to pay another 70 bucks for a NEW passport, even though my old one expires in 3 years. Mean people.

I went ahead to take my passport photo. Found out they didn't allow colored glasses, so some guy loaned me his really weird fitting glasses that I could barely see through and I had to clip my fringe away from my face. I looked like a fool in the final photo. I can barely look at myself. We all went home afterwards. Okay, I know it was a pretty boring recount, so Imma stop here. My palms kinda hurt anyway. Ciaoooo! St. Paddy's Day

Ain't much to blog about today. Damn I'm really running low on stuff to post. I'll think of something along the way... Anyway, it's finally St. Patrick's Day today! Which means it's time to don some green... and it's also 5 months away to my 19th birthday! Damn is 19 such an odd age to reach. Here are some little pictures I managed to get hold of commemorating some drinking and Irish luck, or pot o' gold as they say! Can't forget the shamrocks or leprechauns either! I love, love leprechauns! They seem like such sneaky, devilish gits. Ah-dorable!

Okay, I'm srsly exhausted already, so I'll leave the next segment I had in mind for tomorrow... probably. Happy St. Paddy's guys!

Moving Funnies

Nothing much goin' on today! Just me walking 'round the house listlessly, eating a burger from Macdonalds, and sleeping. A lot. And my fever's still pending. All my past fevers usually last at least 2 to 3 days! *Sigh*

Anyway, I put together a list of pretty funny GIFs below! They'll crack you up in places you don't even know! Lots of pretty cute animals too, so beware!!!

Pray for the World

Well, I've no idea what to believe now. 2012 might become a reality after all. Anyway, I send all my thoughts and prayers to Japan!
According to NYTimes, a devastating 33-foot-high tsunami hit the coast of northeast Japan on Friday in the aftermath of an 8.9 magnitude earthquake about 80 miles offshore. In fact, it is the most powerful earthquake to hit Japan in recorded history (300 years to be exact!), and the seventh largest of all time. Sendai Airport was practically underwater, and apparently 200 to 300 bodies were found in the coast city of Sendai after the earthquake. All underground subways, shinkansen (bullet trains in Japan!) and even Narita Airport ceased operations during the time of the earthquake and tsunami. Even  the happiest place on Earth, Tokyo Disneyland was flooded! Here are some of the pictures below. Disneyland has indeed become DisneySea!
The visitors waiting it out after the earthquake, hoping it would all tide over. God bless them!

Tsunami warnings have been issued to 50 surrounding countries and territories, including as far away as the Pacific Coast of the United States, California even! Some of the heaviest risk countries include the Philippines, Chile, Indonesia, Taiwan and Hawaii! Here are the estimated time arrivals of the tsunamis in these countries.
Here's more information on the waves that are making its way along the Pacific Ocean.
:: 9am - Northern Mariana Islands - no large waves hit
:: 9.17am - Guam - initially appears unaffected
:: 10.02am - Philippines «««««««
:: 11:32am - Papua New Guinea
:: 11.35am - Indonesia
:: 1.10pm - Hawaii
:: 2.16pm - Vanuatu
:: 2.53 - Samoa
:: 3.35pm - Australia
:: 4.12pm - US west coast
:: 5.23pm - New Zealand
:: 11.00pm - Easter Island

And just in case, below is a guide to Earthquake 101!

If indoors:

  • DROP to the ground; take COVER by getting under a sturdy table or other piece of furniture; and HOLD ON until the shaking stops. If there isn’t a table or desk near you, cover your face and head with your arms and crouch in an inside corner of the building.
  • Stay away from glass, windows, outside doors and walls, and anything that could fall, such as lighting fixtures or furniture.
  • Stay in bed if you are there when the earthquake strikes. Hold on and protect your head with a pillow, unless you are under a heavy light fixture that could fall. In that case, move to the nearest safe place.
  • Use a doorway for shelter only if it is in close proximity to you and if you know it is a strongly supported, loadbearing doorway.
  • Stay inside until the shaking stops and it is safe to go outside. Research has shown that most injuries occur when people inside buildings attempt to move to a different location inside the building or try to leave.
  • Be aware that the electricity may go out or the sprinkler systems or fire alarms may turn on.
  • DO NOT use the elevators.

If outdoors:

  • Stay there.
  • Move away from buildings, streetlights, and utility wires.
  • Once in the open, stay there until the shaking stops. The greatest danger exists directly outside buildings, at exits and alongside exterior walls. Many of the 120 fatalities from the 1933 Long Beach earthquake occurred when people ran outside of buildings only to be killed by falling debris from collapsing walls. Ground movement during an earthquake is seldom the direct cause of death or injury. Most earthquake-related casualties result from collapsing walls, flying glass, and falling objects.

If in a moving vehicle:

  • Stop as quickly as safety permits and stay in the vehicle. Avoid stopping near or under buildings, trees, overpasses, and utility wires.
  • Proceed cautiously once the earthquake has stopped. Avoid roads, bridges, or ramps that might have been damaged by the earthquake.

If trapped under debris:

  • Do not light a match.
  • Do not move about or kick up dust.
  • Cover your mouth with a handkerchief or clothing.
  • Tap on a pipe or wall so rescuers can locate you. Use a whistle if one is available. Shout only as a last resort. Shouting can cause you to inhale dangerous amounts of dust.

In addition, Google Person Finder has been launched in order to find any of your loved ones who might currently be in the middle of devastation in Japan! Here's the link for a Japanese version  --> Google Person Finder Japanese, and another for an English version --> Google Person Finder English. It finds out their status, whether they're alive, missing, or most unfortunately, dead.
Anyway, I'll be updating this post as the day progresses! I sincerely hope everyone would stay safe, and God bless you all! The worst is yet to come... Below's a video from the news on NHK World (I think).

Red Riding Hood Review

All righty, this is gonna be a fast post. I'm so not feeling up to reverting back to this daily posting promise, even though it's the holidays now. It's rough, it takes up quite some time every single day, and probably close to none read them anyway. So I shall ask, what's the point??!

Anyway, anyway! Met up with Bec again and headed to Vivs (again) to catch a movie (double again!) there! Red Riding Hood this time! We might have missed approximately ten minutes of it mid-movie, but I'll be on to that later, but I still loved it! It was a complete thriller and fantasy flick. There was not as much romance (which is not a bad thing!) as I thought there would be, just li'l bits and pieces here and there, so that was fine. But it was a rollercoaster ride for me (and my ever-pounding heart), especially during the climax. I'm not gonna include spoilers or whatsoever here, since it just premiered today.  But all I have to say is, I had the hardest time trying to figure out who in the movie really was the werewolf that was tearing the little town apart! There were so many suspects, and each one came rushing in so fast I had a tough time keeping track! I loved Amanda Seyfried as Valerie, a.k.a the Red Riding Hood and Shiloh Fernandez! Some funny parts too. Gary Oldman (Sirius Black in Harry Potter) and Billy Burke (Bella Swan's father in Twilight) were in there too! So it was a pretty cool cast. It was pretty difficult identifying them though. They look totes different from the roles they'd played in the past (obvs!). I loved the costumes in the movie too. They looked medieval in a way. And I just wish I could get my hands on Valerie's red cloak in the movie! The color is so absolutely beautiful - blood red! Envious! I didn't even expect this movie to be a total stand-out. Partly because it was directed by the same person of Twilight - Catherine Hardwicke! Don't get me wrong, I loved Twilight, but it def gets sickening after you've watched it at least thrice! The intro in Red Riding Hood even begins a little similar to how Twilight started! Panning of the trees and scenery and all that.

-- Review ends here! --

So on to the worser part of the day. I bought a saybons wild mushroom soup (4 bucks in the theater! Overly pricy!) and nachos. The cheese was so diluted, but I guess it was a good thing after all, in a way. Bec got Meatless Minestrone soup (same thing she had 2 days in a row!) and snuck that into the theater. Halfway through the movie, Bec gasped and I realized the nacho cheese had fallen off the armrest and onto her seat. Major unfortch! I was pretty sure I hadn't accidentally swung my elbow into the box either (or felt anything), so I had no idea how that happened. The cheese had dripped into her leather Roxy bag and on her shirt and shorts, and even on the seat (I apologize to the next person who sits at H-12)! Anyway, we both had to leave the theater to get to the restroom to clean up. Out of the dark cinema, we could see the cheese had gotten nearly everywhere! It even got a little bit of the zipper on her Juicy wallet :( We spent the longest time wasting the paper towels in the loo and cleaning off all the cheese. I felt so guilty for buying nachos after that. Remind me to get just popcorn in the future - it's that much cleaner.

Once we cleaned up the mess, we returned to the theater and decided not to return to our seats for the rest of the movie. After all, we'd have to disrupt so many people getting back to our center seats, right? We found a pair of seats in the back row. Turns out they were more expensive seats, since they were separated in pairs. They had gigantic armrests and were so much more comfy. Oh well.

This is the official movie poster for Red Riding Hood! That's the cloak I was talking about!
Anyway, we walked around after the movie and decided to go further up ahead at the Boardwalk! I managed to slip and land on my butt on a tiny little slope in my boots close to a little pool with wired human statues in it. Total PHAIL huh? Thank God there weren't much people around. Humiliating. We walked all the way back on the travelators (I love 'em!) once we reached the point we had to pay to enter. Depressing!

"The better to hear you with".
"Oh, grandmother, what big eyes you have!"
"The better to see you with".
"Oh, grandmother, what big hands you have!"
"The better to grab you with".
"But, grandmother, what a dreadful big mouth you have!"
"The better to eat you with".

Ink Bottles

Headed to Raffles with Bectouille today! Not before we went to some store called CozyCot - by women, for women! She had to pick up premature-aging-preventing sunblock her mother ordered online. Anyway, once we reached Raffles, we immediately headed for Soup Spoon! Bec ordered minestrone and I, a clam chowder, and we split wedges (we asked for no spicy mayo but they gave it to us anyway, in a separate cup, no less)! Yummy. We walked 'round after that, mostly in craft stores! We got stickers. Yep, stickers. They were pretty cheap though, and the felt kind. I love, love, love the felt, velvety kind of stickers!

Anyway. We checked out a tiny store where they apparently sold ink bottles that came with a feather quill. I just wanted to check their prices! I mean, it'd be so, so cool to write in ink, with a feather quill, just like in the Potter movies! I'd feel so vintage afterwards. It cost 59 bucks, BTW. Pretty all right, but give it an accidental knock with your elbow, and down goes that 59! The bottle was pretty small too, like the one below!
That wasn't the worst part of it all. A man approached us while we admired the ink bottle. He started explaining it to us, for some reason. When Bec whipped out her phone all of a sudden, he said, "Feel free to take a picture of it, if you like." Or something along those lines! Thing was, she wasn't even intending to take a photo! Hilarious. Then Bec asked if the ink bottle came with the quill if you bought it. I doubt the man answered the question. He simply said it's mainly married couples who buy those to sign on the papers and all that to make it look real classy. What's that gotta do with us? The question was just if the bottle came with the feather quill, for God's sake! Then, he showed us a sample of the ink-written words on a piece of paper. Then some ink bottles that were fragrant too. Weird. I'd most def not be buying that in that shop, after if he's on patrol in there! It'd be waaay weird if I went in and told him I'm buying a ink bottle, and he went all, "Congratulations! You're getting betrothed (I love using old words like that!) soon?"

Oh, not to mention, I had the best lemonade sorbet cone ice cream at Ben & Jerry's! Bec got a fudge chocolate one in a cup. Ours were the same price but I took way longer finishing mine! So not getting a cup serving ever again!

I leave you with a crying Stitch in the rain. Awwwwwww....

Disney Princes Dreamcast

Found this pretty sweet tumblr tag by The Beauty of Solitude! So thanks to the creator of these lovely photos! Apparently, it's the creator's dreamcast for the Disney males should there ever be Disney live-action movies (I wish)! If there was, I know I'd def want a live-action 'Beauty and the Beast' (wait, there's already 'Beastly' coming out soon, but that so doesn't count!), 'Mulan', 'Sleeping Beauty' and of course, 'Snow White'!

Anyway, some of my favorites below are the actors for Peter Pan, Woody, Aladdin, General Li-Shang, Terence (the boy-fairy from Tinkerbell), Prince Eric, the Beast and Cinderella's Prince Charming!
Tom Felton as Peter Pan
Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Woody
Henry Cavill as Prince Charming of Snow White
Jake Gyllenhaal as Aladdin
Jonathan Rhys-Meyers as Tarzan
Armie Hammer as Hercules
Matt Bomer as Flynn Rider
Daniel Henney as General Li-Shang
Milo Ventimiglia as Prince Naveen
Ian Somerhalder as Prince Eric
Jensen Ackles as John Smith (I don't remember where or which movie this guy comes from, anyone?)
Hugh Jackman as The Beast
Hugh Dancy as Prince Charming of Cinderella
Chace Crawford as Prince Phillip

And back with the ever-annoying quotes!!
If you keep on believing, the dreams that you wish will come true
