Beach Barbie

Judging by the title, I s'pose you might be wondering: 'This has gotta be another one of her silly blog posts - and this time, on Barbie dolls?' You couldn't be more wrong! I was listening to this audio recording teaching the ways of the Aussie slang (too rad!) and apparently, they refer to the barbeque (or BBQ) as barbie! Them Aussies love to shorten words (and other stuff), as the recording explained. So barbeque has become 'barbie'!

Anyway, after I was done with music lessons in the early afternoon (thank God I wasn't told off or anything by my teacher this time 'round for not following the 'beat'!), I headed home then out again with my 'rents to a BBQ by the sea at a chalet rented by my relatives (albeit ones I don't really talk to). Since my brother was off on his success coaching lessons elsewhere, it was just me, and I simply put my bag down and sat in a chair in a corner and WA-ed Bec and played on my iPad while all my other relatives busied themselves around the chalet (the entire house looked really old and creepy, but the upholstery and furni looked pretty all right) with the BBQ food.

It all stayed that way till my cuz came with her boyfriend that is, besides me walking along the boardwalk next to the sailing club and dipping my bare feet into the sea along the shore! What fun! Heaps of photos below!

My feet in the water!

The sailing club has its own pool! So cool!
Some guy's Black Labs! He wasn't allowed to bring in dogs into the sailing club and had to leave 'em outside (leashed, of course). Poor things!

I tried roasting marshmallows over the BBQ pit at night too! Totes of fun heating them and tasting the chewy, melted aftermath later! Too bad we couldn't have made any s'mores or graham crackers to go with!

Easy Español

Ended school with a BANG today! Our Spanish teacher simply reviewed the stuff we learnt the past 6 weeks and then gave us our test. It was worth 25% of our total grade, but boy was it as easy as a pea. It didn't even exceed one side of a paper! We just had to fill in 5 one-word blanks with the Spanish verbs and all that, then write about our personal information (in Spanish of course) in a tiny box, approximately 15 to 30 words. I exceeded the word limit, since I got bored waiting for someone to ask if we could leave once we were done with our paper... Hopefully I can get full marks for this one. We got done with class in less than an hour too. Got a fish burger and headed for home! Now, I'm gonna start catching up on 'No Ordinary Family'! Love Kay Panabaker and Autumn Reeser in this!

Ventinueve de Noviembre dos mil diez

Pretty stupid, but I'd just titled today's date in Spanish - that'd be 29 of November 2010! Just practicing a li'l of what I learnt in class today... which is really just numbers from 20-100! I swear, it's all getting easier. Too bad there's a graded assessment next week though... Damn.

Anyway, we had a presentation for IS today. My group was on Power and Status and we met pretty early to go over the powerpoint slides and two of the (only) guys in our group were totally nowhere to be seen. Well, one had overslept and another turned up nearly an hour later than the proposed time. Gah.

My group was the final one to present! I was so nervous (I was the first speaker) that my hands shook along with the notebook I'd written extra notes in! I'd also mispronounced 'archipelago' thanks to my poor nerves. Dang it. When it was time for Q & A by the audience (and the teacher since no one wanted to ask any), the teacher immediately singled the two guys out from our group and asked them about what they'd presented previous to test them, in a way. Actually felt kinda sad for them. Oh well.

Channeling Hogwarts

Another boring day at school... save for Español class. It's my favorite lesson of all this semester, and it isn't even really considered a compulsory thing! Learned stuff about la familia! What mother, father, grandparents and stuff like that are in Spanish! Respectively, that's madre, padre, abuelos

Anyways, I can't believe I haven't found the time to watch Part I of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows yet, considering what a huge Potter fan I am... (yes, much more than I like the Twilight saga!). Some Hogwarts fashion inspired pieces below - for Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin! They were compiled on Polyvore (not by me, obvs!). Some look pretty good - I might try 'em out for myself! I love Ravenclaw's, especially!
Another set for the 4 houses - blazers and skirts!
Totally pink! In love with this compilation!

Spongebob-inspired clothes for the ladies! The Patrick one totally cracked me up. My fave's gotta be Spongebob himself.
Another random one made from Polyvore! Cute!
Just put this together on Polyvore! The cat figure's really a handbag! Lovin' the pink leather gloves!

Hard Times Ahead

Well, I'm gonna stop the 30-day drawing challenge for awhile! I only just remembered there's a test on Social psychology on Thursday morning to study for and I haven't even started! Damn. It's time to really get down to cracking... again.

Anyways, today was a rather boring day in general. Looked at tons of hilarious Pokemon photos and fan art on Sherri's computer though! I've forgotten how much I used to love Pokemon - Pikachu, especially!

Had Spanish in the evening too! I swear, it's really getting easier to learn the language (not that I'm bragging or anything, lol)! I'm starting to really love Spanish. We did tons of worksheets today, which I finished pretty much in a jiffy. Learnt about professions and all that today. Rather boring, really.

Day Three - Favorite Food

Before I start rambling about the boring stuff that's been going on in my life, here's Day 3 of my 30-day Drawing Challenge! So below's another hand drawn (mouse-drawn really) picture of my favourite food - macarons! Yummers, they're the sweetest things you can ever have for dessert, or tea for that matter! I used a Paintbrush application software on my Mac to draw it out! This was the best I could do, god darn it
Anyways, for class today, we had a museum field trip instead. Of course, there was a catch - a graded presentation on the 22th of November! Darn.

Been to that museum during another school field trip years ago. Today wasn't any better than then. It would have been just a li'l fun if we didn't have to find artifacts pertaining to traditions and modernity (my group chose 'Power and Status'!) I was scribbling away in my notebook in bad lighting for the most part. Damn this.

Headed to Billy Bombers for lunch with a bunch of my classmates. Retro red seats they have there - totally old school drive-thru diners style! Plus we were the only crew patroning at the restaurant at that time! I ordered a Dr. Pepper and nachos with jalapeno sauce and  chicken and cheese! Yummy stuff!

Managed to get a ride back to school in time for Spanish class too! We learnt all about español numeros today. Let me try recalling one to ten... uno, dos, tres (okay, this part is easy), cuatro, cinco, seis, siete, ocho, nueve, diez! I'm liking Spanish more and more each week, gah.

On the downside, there was an irritating & insensitive addition to our class today. That person asked me if I knew some names he brought up when I told what course I was in (biggest mistake of my life), and I said I didn't know them, he asked if I was sure I was in that course and claimed I was "quiet". For God's sake. What a complete prune. There was no possible way I'd know the entire population taking my course. I turned away and rolled my eyes (obvs).
Annoying, and rude. Goshers today's just not my day (since when is it ever?)

¡Me Encanta Español!

All right, I haven't exactly learned what 'I love Spanish' is in... well, Spanish, so the title's a big "fake" on my part. I used the iTranslate app for that.

Anyways, had to do some real quick interviews with strangers for our IS class too. Damn - I think we were the only class that did this quick poll thing on migration views. We had to get two persons each to interview. I winded up interviewing four (well, three really - I had help with the fourth). Big accomplishment for moi!

Didn't have time to head home after that - I still had that Spanish class at 6 in the evening! Had to wait in school all bored too. Spanish was all right today, I s'pose. We learnt about nacionalidad (that means nationality) in Spanish. Pretty fun I guess. I'm starting to like the Spanish language, really. We're learning numbers next week!

That Glass of Water

There have been much speculation on whether a glass of water (yes, just water) - poured half to its brim, is half-full, or half-empty! Personally, if posed this question, all I would answer is a simple, "Who the heck cares about a glass of water?" (Sorta like what a teen would most likely think in the GIF below - 'cos obvs, I'm a teen, duh!)

Truth be told, I'd think it's just half I guess. Not full, nor empty. Just HALF. Guess that means I'm a Realist. Be sure to look at the GIF (that means it moves and changes!) at the bottom for all the different views different types of people would have on THAT glass of water! Wait it out till it's gone through the whole round! My personal faves - Jesus, Aboriginal, American, Blonde!
Anyways, my day was pretty sucky. Had a pretty rough (but not as bad as during the first semester!) time trying to find my classes today. Of course, I was by my lone self most of the time. And we've already got an assignment that's due in five weeks for the contemporary issues class! Golly.

Had my first Spanish class too. Personally think it's a lot simpler than French! Still, it's too early to say that. We haven't even gone to the verbs and conjugations part! Just did basic conversational stuff today - and el alfabeto español! They've got some pretty complicated pronunciation I'd say!

It's the Time of the Year Again...

to lone! Well, after my vaca to Tokyo, Japan in exactly TWO weeks, I officially start studying again. Bummer. There'd been TONS of paperwork to fill up for enrolment and all, and that's such a trouble! Anyway, they offer this foreign language ENHANCEMENT programme for us, and I had trouble choosing between French and Japanese for awhile. But recently I found out the due date of the Japanese language registration was pushed a few days earlier. Becky also decided not to go for it due to the time and everything. I chose French in the end. And obvs, I'd know absolutely NO ONE there! But still, I'm used to the loning. I can deal. I hope.

Anyway, I'd just came home from a wedding dinner at a restaurant. My brother stayed home. The food was mostly seafood, and I'm darn sick of it all now! Just hope I don't get Hepatitis A or something. The bride and groom wasn't anyone I recognised, but they ain't so distant relatives either. Anyways, this one dish came up, and it had this edible flower at the side of the plate. I reached for it, but my mother slapped my hand away (rude, I know) and told me to leave it for this girl toddler across the table. So I did. When she took the pink flower, before she could even eat it, it DROPPED on the floor. Well, if I'd had that goddamn flower, I wouldn't have done that. Still, I'm mean for even thinking that. Little kids are the one who gets what they want right?

No quote for the day apologies! I'm just too lazy to pull up that extra window to find one!

Bad Hamster and Mother Days

I learnt a new Spanish phrase today, from @LearnSpanishSCR on Twitter! Forgive me, I'm still in a half-assed mood of learning it! French as well.

All that Glitters is not Gold: No todo lo que brilla es oro(SPANISH)

At least, I think that's what it means! :x I'm real elated today! My Twitter page finally reached the 70++ count of followers, and I previously thought it could never get beyond 50... However, I doubt it would keep up though, knowing my luck. When I went to work just several hours ago with my mother, and we were in a convenience store, I pulled up a copy of Popstar! magazine and asked if I could buy it. So the conversation went like this:
Mother: You've got your own money, I've given you the $15 the other day.
Me: *Jaw drops literally* No...! You haven't given it to me. You don't remember? *Eye roll here*

Mother: I KNOW I gave you the $15.
Me: You DIDN'T.

It goes on. Few seconds later...

Me: Never mind.
Mother: So do you still want to buy the magazine?
Me: No! *loud enough for the cashier to look over at us (MYOB lady!)*
Mother: I really gave it to you. YOU don't remember!
Me: *storms out of the store*

In the end, she handed me the 15 bucks anyway. I wasn't being mean, and I'm not gonna try to defend myself here. But I TRUTHFULLY didn't get that money from her! I don't forget money that easy ;)

And goddamn it. Before I went out to work, I fed my two hamsters as usual. Sunflower seeds, nuts and vitamin C. I picked Pudding up DELICATELY but she went ahead and bit me HARD anyway on my palm. I tried shaking her off and she bit my ring finger then. Thank goodness Mochi doesn't bite anymore. She used to. Not lovin' Pudding as much as Mochi now! There's still a friggin' gash on my finger too. How do you train hamsters to be obedient?

Anyway, speakin' of hamsters, I got some pretty awesome, talented ones here! Enjoy the cute-ness these little critters just ooze full of!
